CHANDIGARH: The special court of the CBI has granted bail to Gyanendra Rai, who is stated to be the senior technical assistant (Hydrogeology), Central Ground Water Board, in a graft case.
The CBI had recently filed a chargesheet against him and Dinesh Tewari, senior hydrogeologist (scientist D) at the Central Ground Water Board, North Western region, in a bribe case. He was ordered to be released on bail upon furnishing bail bond of Rs one lakh.
It was argued that he was neither named in the FIR, nor there are any allegations of demand, acceptance or recovery of bribe amount from him or that he has ever demanded any bribe or accepted the same. The question of recovery of any bribe amount from him did not arise.
It was further pleaded that during the course of investigation, the accused joined the investigation many times and fully cooperated in the investigation and was available as and when required.
